Vision and Purpose

The Vision of the Order points to what we believe are the two core purposes for which Jesus brought the Order of the Daughters of the Holy Cross into being. The Order is to be a community, the Daughters are called to be servants of Jesus as He unites and builds up His body, the Church. The Order thrives as it is obedient to both its inward and outward callings.

The callings are not separate puposes but different aspects of the same goal. Attention to increase of Christ's rule within her own heart prepares each Daughter to be more effective in winning others to Christ and advancing His kingdom on earth.

We believe that God created us to be in community with others and when we do not have a loving community, we feel a great loss. According to Pope Benedict XVI, "One of the deepest forms of poverty a person can experience is isolation. It is not by isolation that man establishes his worth, but by placing [her]self in relation with others and with God." The Daughters of the Holy Cross actively seek to place themselves in community with one another, the Church and God.
